Dear Applicant

Thank you very much for taking an interest in the position of Headteacher at St Aidan’s Church of England High School (the ‘School’) and Executive Leader of Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust. We are pleased to be able to invite applications for what we believe to be one of the most exciting and significant education leadership roles in North Yorkshire.  We hope that you will find the information provided to be a useful introduction to our School and our Trust and that you will take the opportunity to apply for the post.

St. Aidan’s was founded in 1968 and today is a thriving community of nearly 2000 students aged 11-19.  Our Christian foundation pervades everything that St. Aidan's does.  The School is part of Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust (the ‘Trust’) a multi-academy trust established in March 2014, currently comprising 8 schools (1 secondary and 7 primary) based in and around Harrogate. The Trust includes both Church of England and community schools.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who will lead the School by building on its many strengths, while also taking the Trust into the next phase of its development. The pupils, staff, parents, governors and our local community are proud of our School where students are happy, well-behaved and enjoy learning. It has an exceptional track record of success, and delivers positive outcomes for all pupils regardless of background or ability.

We are looking for an astute education professional with strong leadership and team development skills, ambition, drive and purpose to make a difference. The successful candidate will deliver our vision to further improve and develop the Trust. In a changing educational environment, we are offering the opportunity to become Headteacher of one of the most well respected and high-performing schools in the county and to have executive leadership of the Trust of which it is an integral part.

We would encourage you to come and visit in advance of your application and see for yourself the enthusiasm that our students have for their education. Such a visit is not part of the selection process, and whether or not applicants have visited will not influence the final outcome.  If you would like the opportunity to visit, please email Rachel Wales, HR Advisor who has been engaged to support us with recruitment to this key role ( For an informal conversation about the role please call Rachel on 01609 532597.

We would like to thank you again for your interest in the post. If you are a leader excited by these opportunities, we look forward to receiving your application.

Yours faithfully,

Claire Kelley                                                                Alison Glover
