Dear Executive Headteacher Applicant

Thank you very much for taking an interest in the position of Executive Headteacher at Federation of Skelton CE Primary School and Sharow CE School. I hope that you will find the information provided a useful introduction to our school and that you will take the opportunity to apply for the post.

Our governors are seeking to appoint a leader who will build on the many strengths of the Federation. Pupils, staff, parents, governors and our community are proud of our schools where children are happy, well-behaved and enjoy learning.

Our major challenge is roll size. Sharow is oversubscribed and we are investigating the possibility of expansion to meet that need in the future. On the other hand, Skelton is undersubscribed and a good deal of work will need to be done within the community to attract additional pupils.

We wish to appoint an Executive Headteacher who will continue to take our Federation forward. Someone who is flexible in approach and able to provide clear direction. In the changing educational environment, there will be many exciting challenges ahead. The Federation has the benefit of a highly committed, experienced, and loyal team of staff, supportive parents and a single governing body.

I would encourage you to visit our schools in advance of your application and see for yourself the enthusiasm that our children have for their education. Such a visit is not part of the selection process, and whether or not applicants have visited will not influence the final outcome. Please call Caroline Walker, School Administrator on 01765 604362 to make an appointment or email:

I hope you find the information provided useful and informative and that it will encourage you to apply. On behalf of the governing body, thank you again for your interest.

Yours faithfully,

James Bradley

Chair of Governors
