Number on Roll: Sharow: 100, Skelton: 25

Post: Executive Headteacher

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a truly unique role, leading and managing two highly regarded village schools. Each school has its own individual characteristics, sits at the centre of its community and has Christian values at its heart. Both are rated Good by Ofsted.

Situated in beautiful rural settings, at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, both schools are located within 5 miles of each other in small, attractive villages close to Ripon. Despite their rural settings, they have excellent links to the A1M providing access to Leeds, York, Teesside, Durham as well as the county towns of Harrogate and Northallerton.

Your role will be to effectively lead and develop the Federation, providing clear leadership, raising standards, developing collaboration and partnerships and ensuring pupil numbers and outcomes are maximised.

Working closely with each community, you’ll promote each school to ensure it remains highly visible and attractive to parents and maintains strong links with the church.

An inspirational leader and communicator, you must possess the skills to develop and build networks, partnerships and collaborations, ensure finances are effectively managed, develop staff and promote a positive team spirit.

You’ll receive positive support from our experienced governing body, all of whom are committed to providing support to ensure your long term success. In addition, we are fortunate to benefit from the excellent support provided by the Diocese of Leeds, Local Authority Advisors and Harrogate & Rural Teaching School Alliance (HART).

We would encourage you to visit our schools in advance of your application and see for yourself how we work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children. Such a visit is not part of the selection process, and whether or not applicants have visited will not influence the final outcome. Please call Caroline Walker, School Administrator on 01765 604362 to make an appointment or email: As we are two schools, we have planned time/dates when visits can easily be accommodated (detailed below). Should you not be in a position to attend during these times, please contact us to make alternative arrangements.
