James, one of our recruitment officers who specialises in teacher vacancies, worked with the school to create a campaign for this role. We created a dedicated website to promote the role and to act as a resource for potential candidates to find out more about the school. We also ran a social media campaign to further promote the vacancy. As a result, the school received several high quality candidates and successfully appointed to the role in May 2019.

Candidate for role of Assistant Director, City of York Council

Supporting Staff in North Yorkshire

The ‘Supporting Staff’ programme provided advice and guidance to North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, and the Office of the Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner staff impacted by the restructure and reorganisation of the central administrative teams. It provided a range of online and face-to-face support, enabling staff to achieve a positive destination.

The overall programme was designed to assist staff from North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, and the Office of the Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner through the restructure of the support teams in all three organisations.

The ‘Supporting Staff’ programme was an integral element of the project agreed to recruit a new Managing Director for the restructured Central Administrative teams within NYPFS.

Support provided

We provided group sessions, with optional one-to-one interviews, during the consultation process. The one-to-one appointments provided general support and guidance on future employment opportunities.

Moving Forward workshops were then offered to those whose post was confirmed as redundant. The sessions supported staff to ‘move forward’ to future destinations through discussions on modern job search, CVs, job applications, interviews and alternatives to paid employment.

Additional Employability Adviser support was made available to those impacted by the restructure. This was delivered on a face-to-face, telephone, and email basis, and included assistance with CV writing, job search, and interview support.

Feedback from the customer

We had very positive feedback from those who attended the ‘Supporting Staff’ and ‘Moving Forward’ sessions and attendees clearly benefited from the support provided. Here are just some of the quotes we received:

“I found the session very useful and I enjoyed meeting both you and your colleague Neil. Thank you”.

“Thank you for taking the time to meet with us, it was one of the only positive experiences we have had throughout this redundancy process and I have provided feedback to HR and the Change Consultation team to reflect this. I found this presentation very beneficial and I have already referred back to this and your website a number of times”.

“Thank you for the email about the funding. It was a pleasure to meet you last Friday”.

“Guess what - I’ve just been offered a job - the one I wanted with NHS - I’m so happy and thank you for all your help - you gave me the help and confidence to do it and I did!”

“Fantastic session - really enjoyed it and gained a vast amount from it. Highly recommended”

“Was very helpful to my situation. Enjoyed the morning”

“Excellent, thank you, very informative”
